Special Effects Alien Design


Henry IV was as adaptation of Shakespeare's Henry IV parts I and II written and directed by Ryan Dukes. It was set in a futuristic Science Fiction landscape where England was a planetary system.




The Douglas





IN THE SHOW: An originally Scottish character
named The Douglas is from a different planet in the system.

THE CHALLENGE: Create an Alien look for the actor that could withstand sweat and with choreography.
​
THE RESULT: A combination of prosthetics and airbrushing techniques to create an alien loosely based on the Loch Ness monster. Full paint coverage on face, neck, and hands.
Lady Mortimer & Glendower
IN THE SHOW: Two originally Welsh characters
are from a different planet in the system.

THE CHALLENGE: Create an Alien look for the actor that could be repeatedly put on and taken off in <2 minute transitions .
​
THE RESULT: A custom silicon headpiece modeled with influence from dragons (Welsh mascot) as well as rapid application of airbrushing and scarves for fastening and covering seams.





PROCESS: Initial model in air dry clay, alginate mold, silicone pour with custom mix pigment, detail painting with silicone paint.
