Silver Pendant

Love May Transform Me to an Oyster

The Inspiration

One of my all time favorite plays is Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare. In the show, Benedick judges his friends harshly for their falling in love only to then fall madly in love. Just before he faces his feelings, he delivers a monologue about his existence as a bachelor and his friend Claudio who has just left the bachelor lifestyle. He makes the claim that Love (personified) would be more likely to turn him into an oyster than to make him fall in love. The pendant is a representation that even when love seems entirely far away it may be just around the corner.

"I will not be sworn, but love may transform me to an oyster; but I'll take my oath on it, till he have made an oyster of me, he shall never make me such a fool."
